GFPA FOUNDATION, South Africa

Integration of girls in the field of aviation
The GFPA Foundation (Girls Fly Programme in Aviation) was established in 2017 by Refilwe Ledwaba, the first black female helicopter pilot for the SAPS (South African Police Force).
She originally created this organization to encourage girls to become pilots and help them deal with the challenges she herself had faced in the aviation field.
Today, the foundation, which is now also established in Botswana and Cameroon, has a dual mission: to change the way people think about girls in aviation and to create an inclusive world through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in which girls are inspired to innovate.
